The first time is always the hardest...

As I sit here trying to find something witty to say in my very first blog, I realize I am never going to be completely satisfied with anything I say regardless of how I ponder ideas.  I will introduce myself a little and hopefully will use this site to inspire others occasionally.  Even if I ever help, teach, or inspire one person, it will be worth it.

This is me...and my enabler. It is hard for me to remember a time when he has told me no about anything.  I do admit that I am a little spoiled.  Our latest project has been installing a koi pond in the side yard.  Before that, it was a giant dollhouse bed in our daughters' room and before that it was completely re-landscaping the entire front yard so that it was "Florida inspired."  It is always something around here.

For two years now, I have been staying at home with the kids.  Before that, I was a teacher at Heritage High School in Conyers, GA.  I met some of the most amazing kids.  High schoolers get a bad rap.  Sure, there were plenty that talked back and the random drug deal in the hallways, but for the most part, most of them are just trying to muddle through one of life's most difficult time periods.  I found that treating them like mini adults and quietly moderating their decisions and actions, while gently nudging them in the right direction worked way better than the lady in the next classroom who was always screaming and treated them like they were 2. Before teaching, there was a slew of other jobs; retail management, grad assistantships, flight attendant, waitressing, and a brief dark period in my life when I did B2B print sales...awful.  But I have taken bits and pieces from each experience and hopefully will be better because of it.

I love my kids...Emma Grace is 6 and a total diva.  She is smart, compassionate, and is the best big sister ever.  She is dramatic and loves to sing and dance.  We are pretty confident that she will one day be an animal doctor and have lots of her own kids.

Bella is 3 and quite the opposite.  She is independant and gives very little thought to what others may think.  She is also a diva who loves to play dress up and have her nails painted.  She also loves to play in the dirt.  We are undecided yet if Bella is going to be a future Miss America or a future world lightweight boxing champion...I will keep you updated.

Scotty is almost 18 months, headstrong and extremely smart.  He is fascinated with a "ball" and interestingly enough with watching baseball on TV.  He has the high energy of Emma combined with the stubborness of Bella.  A scary combo!!  He is very sweet and hopefully will one day be a Major League baseball player and support his mom's shopping habit.

That is all for now...hopefully I will be able to put up pictures and ideas soon about the dollhouse bed which people seem fascinated with and I am extremely proud of.
